So I’m thinking about building a DIY standing desk that adjusts height automatically. I’ve been checking out different actuators and found some cool options on Progressive Automations. But I’m not sure which type would be best for smooth, quiet movement and enough power to lift a loaded desk. Has anyone tried their linear actuators for furniture projects like this?

It’s pretty cool how these actuators can turn simple mechanical motion into automated convenience. Whether it’s furniture, vehicles, or even hobby projects, they really add a whole new level of functionality without being too complicated to install or use. Makes me want to start building something myself just to experiment.
I actually built a custom adjustable TV lift using one of their linear actuators last year. It worked really smoothly and was surprisingly quiet, which was perfect for my living room. The key is picking the right stroke length and load rating, depending on how heavy your desk setup is. I found this actuator https://www.progressiveautomations.com/pages/actuators that explains actuator specs in an easy way . Definitely helped me avoid buying something that was too weak or too bulky.
